It’s been a while since I have blogged, and I know I’m possibly the worst blog-ess on the face of the earth but that’s just what you get. Anyway, life has been super busy lately so here’s what’s happened in the past few weeks that’s worth mentioning.
My birthday: I turned 22 on February 7 (store that in your memory banks guys, I expects cards next year). I feel super old, but I had a great weekend with my parents (you know you’re getting old when you can have a good time with your parents!!). When I was a teenager my birthday was always crappy because it was always the first day of a new school year, but now that the government is talking about Monday-ising Waitangi Day (on the 6th of Febuary), that’ll mean that every now and then I get a holiday for my birthday, or at least a long weekend before it!
Roller Derby: HO. LY. CRAP. My friend Dottie from work and I decided late last year that we were going to start going to roller derby training with the Mount Militia Derby Crew, and the first intake day was a couple of days after my birthday on the 11th of February. Can I just repeat: HO. LY. CRAP. This shit is MY JAM (no pun intended, haha…not that anyone got that…part of a roller derby bout is called a jam…anyway). It is the most fun I’ve ever, ever had at a sport. That’s not to say it’s easy though, I’ve only been there three weeks and I’ve got thighs of steel already! I ordered a new pair of skates which will hopefully arrive next week which I am far too excited about.
Work: Man…tough times! Work is FULL ON. Far too much work for one little designer and one little accounts manager to take on. I feel like I’ve worked a full week already and it’s only Tuesday night!
Life: I don’t have much time for a life! Jamie and I went for a drive to Opotiki on Sunday which was nice, was a beautiful day, got a bit of a tan, but nothing else much happens. Far too busy with work and derby. All is pretty quiet on the gaming front, I finished Mass Effect 2 a few days ago (it was AWESOME, I’m so glad I took a chance on it when it was on sale) and Mass Effect 3 comes out on the 9th, but in the meantime I have started playing Final Fantasy 13-2, which is a billion times better than its predecessor. Thank God, coz that shit was BAD.
My goals list isn’t much closer to being finished than it was when I posted it! EQC have paid my insurance claim, finally, but a lot of it is just being frittered away on random stuff (such as skates!). I’m trying though! Really hard…I promise. Once I pay for my skates, it’s saving time. Forealz.
Anyway just so this post isn’t a wall of text, here is a photo of Juno climbing the clotheshorse. She is huge now. I guess that’s what you get when you have a kitten that’s half Maine Coon.
Cutey cutey!
Also at some point I would like to make a padded bedhead, like this one. I feel like a bed isn’t complete without a bedhead so I would love to make this house feel more like a home by making one. Plus the wallpaper behind our bed is super dirty for some reason (and it was when we moved in…god knows what the previous tenant got up to!).
I’ll try to blog more often, I promise, but for now my head is a bit frazzled, for lack of a better term, and all I tend to want to do when not working or skating or gaming is sleep! Oh, sleep…
I was going to upload the song that inspired the title for my last post (which was 4:12 by Switchfoot) but then Tumblr wouldn’t take it because the file i had was a .m4a rather than an .mp3, so that was a bit annoying, so I decided to just upload a random mp3 from my computer and this is it!
My high school bff Samara and I went through a huge phase of listening to J-Pop. We were both pretty into Japan, we’d both been learning it at school for ages and we both went there in 2004 (I went to Tokyo, she went to Nagasaki? Nara? Somewhere around there), and this was one of the songs that we learns all the words to (god knows what half of them meant, but it was fun to pretend). We wrote notes to eachother in Japanese and it was like our secret little code. It was bloody good fun, but now I can hardly remember any of it. Maybe I should get back into it…it’s a language that makes sense (unlike english!)
It’s super late for me at the moment - late being 11.40pm, it’s Saturday tomorrow which means that my parents will be down soon (Sunday) and that it’s also my 22nd birthday soon as well (Tuesday), and this year is the first year that I haven’t had anything that I wanted or required for my birthday. It’s actually really weird being at a point where there’s nothing that I need. I’m pretty practical about stuff like that, I’d rather get something I need for my birthday/Xmas rather than stuff I want (and quite often don’t want). Unless, you know, it’s something I say I need but I really just want, mostly new shoes.
So anyhow, in a few days I’ll be 22 which is the oldest I’ve ever been. Surprisingly. I don’t want to get any older, with age just comes responsibility and I’m not that good at managing responsibility. I have a cat and a boyfriend who usually need around the same amount of care and that’s about all I can handle!
While I’m thinking about blogging, here a some photos from my Contiki to Europe in November. Best month of my life, hands down. Nothing will ever compare.
